Born in India, after initial psychiatric training in the United Kingdom, Dr. Vallabhaneni received further training in psychiatry in the United States and Canada. He also received training in psychoanalysis of adults and children in the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. He is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Staff Psychiatrist in the Impatient Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital, and Faculty Member of the Toronto Psychoanalytic Institute. He is a member of the American, Canadian and International Psychoanalytic Societies. His special interest lies in teaching and supervision of dynamic psychotherapy, study of influence of cultural factors in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy and psychoanalytic studies of immigration and exile.
