Danielle Quinodoz was a member of the Swiss Psychoanalytic Society. Her grasp of the Unconscious and her clear writing make it possible for the reader to grasp fundamental psychoanalytic topics. The 3 that have been selected will be of interest to both psychoanalysts and psychotherapists who wish to assist their patients to regain lost aspects of themselves.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the participant should be able to discuss three important ideas:

  1. The containing features of the setting and the way in which each contributes to a creative encounter between patient and clinician
  2. The way in which the reintegration of split-off, contradictory aspects of the personality can bring end to intolerable internal distress
  3. The manner in which the analyst and therapist may speak in a way that helps the patient to see important aspects of herself that were previously unsymbolized and invisible
