The Psychodynamic Approach to Therapy
The Schiele Clinic provides psychodynamic psychotherapy. This means therapists:
- Focus on increasing self understanding and deepening one’s insight into emotional issues and internal conflicts.
- View behaviors as symptoms as opposed to behaviors being the problem themselves.
- Emphasize relationships with early caretakers and how those relationships alter the trajectory of the person’s life.
Our Patients
Individuals call our clinic for a variety of reasons; they may be struggling with relationship or family issues, concerns about eating or drinking patterns, feelings of anxiety, the psychological effects of a physical illness, personal and interpersonal difficulties, depression or stress. They may be victims of abuse or trauma, children of alcoholics, in a life transition, or experiencing grief or loss.
The Schiele Clinic Referral Network
The Clinic has a network of over 75 therapists offering treatment throughout the region. Network therapists are Institute Faculty, Analytic Training Program Candidates or graduates of the Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program currently in private practice and dedicated to their own continuing education, who have expressed a desire to support the mental health needs of the St. Louis community by serving as a part of our clinic network. Our network therapists average 25 years of work experience in the field.
