Education at the Institute - Saint Louis Psychoanalytic Institute

The mission of the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute is to advance psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic thought, through training, treatment, education, and research to benefit the mental health of our diverse community.

The Institute provides fundamental thorough advanced psychoanalytically informed professional education. In addition to our in-depth multi-year training programs, we offer shorter continuing education courses, lectures by national figures who are experts in their disciplines, as well as sophisticated library services. We also offer educational programs to the community in an effort to illuminate the complexities of human interaction and enrich community life.

Adult and Child Analytic Training Programs — There are two analytic training programs: Training in Adult Psychoanalysis and Training in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis, as well as Open Analytic Theory Classes. More Information HERE.

CA/APP— The Child and Adolescent/Adult Psychotherapy program is a two-year clinical training program for mental health professionals that provides theoretical and clinical training in psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy. Classes meet from 6 – 9 p.m. on Monday evenings during the academic year. In addition, students meet twice weekly in small group supervision of their own clinical cases. More Information HERE.

Practicums and Internships — There are three different practicums at the Institute, including the Schiele Clinic Internship/Practicum Program, the Schiele Clinic Evaluation Practicum program, and the Non-Profit Management Program. For more information on each of these, please click HERE.

Fellowships — The Institute currently offers a Schiele Clinic Post-Graduate Fellowship and a Research Fellowship. More Information can be found HERE.

The St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute is approved to provide advanced education by the following national and state entities: the American Psychoanalytic Association, Accreditation Council for Continuing Mental Education (ACCME), American Psychological Association (APA), National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and the Department of Health and Senior Services, Section for Child Care Regulation (DHSS SCCR).
