Adult and Child Analytic Training Programs
The Institute offers two analytic training programs: Training in Adult Psychoanalysis and Training in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis. Selected courses from the analytic curriculum are also available as Open Analytic Theory Classes.
Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
The Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program is a two-year clinical training program for mental health professionals that provides theoretical and clinical training in psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy. Classes meet from 6–9 p.m. on Monday evenings during the academic year. In addition, students meet twice weekly in small group supervision of their own clinical cases.
Practicums and Internships
The Institute offers clinical training placements through the Herbert S. Schiele Clinic Training Program.
Fellowships
The Institute offers a Research Fellowship for clinicians and academics pursuing psychoanalytic research.
Continuing Education
Continuing education courses are offered as part of the Institute’s Lectures and Seminars. For information on continuing education credits, see the Continuing Education Credit Information page.
The Saint Louis Psychoanalytic Institute is approved to provide advanced education by the following national and state entities: the American Psychoanalytic Association, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), American Psychological Association (APA), National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and the Department of Health and Senior Services, Section for Child Care Regulation (DHSS SCCR).
Library Services
Candidates and students at the Institute can use library resources when consulting readings for courses in the Analytic Training and Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (APP) programs.
