Juliana Varela is a bilingual psychotherapist in private practice since 2013. After completing her Master’s degree in Social Work she lived and studied abroad (Cuba and Ecuador) where she pursued post-graduate training in Classical Ballet and Cultural Studies. She continues to explore her interests in Migration, Culture and Identity as they inform clinical work. She currently leads a clinical Case Conference at Casa de Salud (Clinic serving uninsured/underinsured immigrants and refugees) offering a supervisory and exploratory space for clinicians in the area that may need support in working with patients from diverse backgrounds. After settling in St. Louis in 2005, Juliana completed APP at the Institute, served three years as a practicum student in the Schiele Clinic and is currently a 4th year candidate in Analytic Training. She has the pleasure now of working as a Supervisor in the Schiele Clinic and thoroughly enjoys studying and working with young clinicians interested in Psychoanalytic theory and practice.
